Today 28 April, Foreign Minister Margus Tsahkna met with Armenian Prime Minister Nikol Pashinyan in Tallinn to discuss Estonia-Armenia bilateral relations, the peace process between Armenia and Azerbaijan, Russia's war in Ukraine and Armenia's steps towards the European Union.

Tsahkna stressed to Pashinyan that Estonia was closely following the peace talks between Armenia and Azerbaijan. "Estonia welcomes the agreement reached on the text of the peace treaty. This has been an important and historical step in the security and stability of the region, and we hope that the signing will take place between the two countries as soon as possible," Tsahkna said.

Speaking about Russia's war in Ukraine, Tsahkna said that Putin's actions did not show that he wanted peace in Ukraine in the near future. "Estonia is a steadfast supporter of Ukraine, and internationally we are also leading the way on many topics," he added. "It is important that we make active progress with the mobilisation of Russia's frozen assets and put even more pressure on the aggressor, which is the only way to achieve a just and lasting peace that respects Ukraine's sovereignty and territorial integrity."

Tsahkna emphasised that Estonia also supports Armenia on its path towards the European Union. "Armenia is taking clear steps towards a pro-European and pro-Western policy, the reform process is heading in the right direction and we will support them in every way on this journey," Tsahkna said.
