MANILA - The Civil Aviation Authority of the Philippines (CAAP) and the Philippine Air Force (PAF) collaborated to boost operations through the PAF-CAAP Joint Steering Committee (PCJSC).
The PCJSC will oversee cooperation on air operations, safety, security, training, legal matters and other shared concerns, the CAAP said on Tuesday.
The two signed the implementing agreement to strengthen civil-military air operations on Monday.
"This accomplishment is the result of our tireless efforts and unwavering dedication, proving what we can achieve when we work, not just side by side, but hand in hand, towards our common goal," CAAP Director General Raul Del Rosario said in a statement.
CAAP will be responsible for ensuring the safe, orderly, and efficient management of air traffic within the Manila Flight Information Region.
PAF, on the other hand, will handle the detection, identification, interception and when necessary, the neutralization of hostile aircraft within the Philippine Air Defense Identification Zone (PADIZ).
The collaboration underscores both agencies' commitment to uphold the integrity and safety of Philippine airspace while fostering stronger coordination and shared responsibility in addressing current and emerging aviation challenges, CAAP said. (PNA)
