Republic of Lithuania - Ministry of National Defence

International cooperation
Lithuania plans increasing the number of military personnel contributed to the NATO Kosovo Force from 5 to 60. The proposal was presented to the Seimas by the Ministry of National Defence today responding to the request of the Federal Ministry of Defence for further strengthening of cooperation with our strategic partner.
If approved by the Seimas, the amendment to the resolution would endorse deployment of a platoon-seized Lithuanian Armed Forces unit to the German Company in KFOR. The first platoon would be dispatched this year. The units would rotate on a six-month basis.
The total strength of the multinational NATO operation in Kosovo is currently approx. 4700. Germany augmented its military contribution to KFOR in 2024 significantly. Lithuania currently has one representative poste to the NATO operational headquarters in the capital of Kosovo, Pristina.
