Foreign Minister Tsahkna holds meetings in US Congress

Foreign Minister Margus Tsahkna was in US capital Washington DC on 24 and 25 March to meet with Secretary of State Marco Rubio, senators Mitch McConnell, Peter Welch, Jerry Moran and Jeanne Shaheen, and representatives Kevin Hern and Chip Roy.
The meetings in Congress focused on achieving a just and lasting peace in Ukraine, continued pressure on Russia through sanctions and the mobilisation of frozen assets, and Europe's growing contribution to reinforcing NATO's collective defence.
Tsahkna also met with the local Estonian community and representatives of various think tanks, and he presented former Secretary of State Mike Pompeo with the Foreign Ministry's Cross of Merit, First Class, which was awarded to him in 2021.
