Foreign Minister Margus Tsahkna is on a visit to Norway on 3 and 4 March, and today he and his Norwegian counterpart Espen Barth Eide visited the Norwegian Armed Forces' Joint Headquarters in Bodø.
"As NATO frontline countries, Estonia and Norway largely have a shared perception of security challenges, and they are also very serious about defending themselves," Foreign Minister Tsahkna said. "Norway's contribution to NATO's collective defence and particularly to security in the Arctic is invaluable."
The foreign ministers of Estonia and Norway also had a joint telephone conversation with Ukraine's Foreign Minister Andrii Sybiha, who affirmed Ukraine's commitment to achieving peace.
Estonia's support to Ukraine remains unwavering and we are working towards achieving lasting peace in Ukraine, not just a pause for Russia so it could continue its aggression later," Tsahkna said.
Yesterday, Tsahkna was in Oslo and met with members of the Norwegian Parliament's Standing Committee on Foreign Affairs and Defence, and with Åsmund Aukrust, Minister for International Development. He and Norwegian State Secretary Eivind Vad Petersson took part in the Norwegian Institute of International Affairs panel discussion on current security challenges.
