Saudi Arabia Affirms Steadfast Support for Sudan at UN Human Rights Council

Geneva, February 28, 2025, SPA -- The permanent representative of the Kingdom to the United Nations and international organizations in Geneva, Ambassador Abdulmohsen bin Khothaila, reiterated the Kingdom's steadfast and supportive position toward Sudan and its people in overcoming the current crisis and achieving a sustainable political solution that spares the country the horrors of war.
In his speech before the UN Human Rights Council, the ambassador highlighted the Kingdom's significant efforts to resolve the crisis, noting that Saudi Arabia, in cooperation with the United States, hosted the warring parties from Sudan for talks in Jeddah that aimed to ensure the protection of civilians, a ceasefire, and finding a political solution that preserves the security and stability of Sudan, guarantees the cohesion of the state institutions, and prevents their collapse.
He also stressed that the solution in Sudan begins with ending the fighting and strengthening the humanitarian response for the Sudanese people, paving the way for a stable and secure political future that fulfills the aspirations of the Sudanese people.
