MANILA -- Philippine Army (PA) commander Lt. Gen. Roy Galido has assured all possible support for soldiers and CAFGU Active Auxiliary (CAA) members engaged in security patrols in Oriental Mindoro.

Galido made the pledge to the military personnel after visiting the Cabuyao patrol base in Barangay Bansud, Pag-asa town on Feb. 22, PA spokesperson Col. Louie Dema-ala said in a statement Tuesday.

"The Army Chief, during his Talk to Troops, thanked the troops and the CAA members for volunteering to enter the noble profession of arms. Lt. Gen. Galido also reiterated his guidance, which (included) the provision of conducive and optimal working and living spaces for Army personnel," he added.

Dema-ala also said Galido assured the health and well-being of troops through various programs, such as the annual physical examination, and the conduct of centralized messing to foster camaraderie and a strong bond among personnel.

"Lt. Gen. Galido likewise lauded the CAA members who are under the 203rd Infantry Brigade for their crucial role in sustaining the internal security gains in the island of Mindoro. He also cited the CAA units' integral role as force multipliers in the conduct of territorial defense operations," he added.

CAA units, which are under the operational control of infantry divisions, also serve as first responders during disasters and calamities.

During his visit to the Cabuyao base, Galido also awarded the Wounded Personnel Medal to personnel who sustained injuries in the line of duty. He distributed uniforms and supplies to CAA members and assured special attention to those who were killed, wounded, or got sick in the line of duty. (PNA)
