
Participation of Minister of Foreign Affairs, Emil Hurezeanu, in the Third Day of the International Security Conference in Munich

On Sunday 16 February, Minister of Foreign Affairs Emil Hurezeanu continued the series of meetings and discussions with his counterparts and representatives of the states and organizations present at the Munich Security Conference (MSC).
The Romanian Minister attended the informal meeting of the European Union Foreign Ministers present at the MSC with High Representative Kaja Kallas. The exchange of views focused on the European perspective on US proposals for resolving the war in Ukraine and the need for transatlantic unity. The discussions highlighted the imperative of European unity in continued support for Ukraine, with a focus on the need for a just and lasting peace. The stage of initiatives to strengthen European defense and ways to take them forward were also discussed.
Minister Hurezeanu underlined the importance for the Eastern Flank states supporting Ukraine to participate with Kiev in discussions on all aspects of ensuring a just resolution of this war, also in view of the wider regional and European security implications. The head of Romanian diplomacy emphasized the need to continue supporting Ukraine at all levels and the importance of the EU's united action and vision. He also recalled the indisputable benefits of the transatlantic partnership and the need to continue this strategic cooperation.
The Minister of Foreign Affairs participated in the meeting "Closing Time: Mapping the Transatlantic Path Forward after Munich", organized by the Atlantic Council. The Romanian official stressed the need to maintain transatlantic unity and solidarity in order to manage common challenges, including in terms of achieving a just, comprehensive and sustainable peace in Ukraine and ensuring the security and stability in the wider Black Sea region.
The Minister of Foreign Affairs had a meeting with the President of the Atlantic Council, Frederick Kempe. Discussions focused on European security issues, global trends, and how partners guided by common values and interests can secure the rules-based international order.
