MANILA -- The Philippine Air Force (PAF) has announced that it has successfully restored to full operational status a Lockheed C-130 "Hercules" transport aircraft following "critical structure maintenance procedures" that lasted for almost four months.
"The PAF marks another milestone (in) its continuous effort to enhance operational readiness with the blessing and turnover ceremony of a newly-restored C-130 aircraft held last Feb. 5, 2025 at Clark Air Base, Mabalacat City, Pampanga," PAF spokesperson Col. Ma. Consuelo Castillo said in an interview with reporters Tuesday afternoon.
Castillo said this maintenance procedure resulted in the restoration of the C-130 aircraft with tail number 5040 to "full operational status" or capable of flying missions that might be delegated to its crew.
"The restoration conducted from Oct. 21, 2024 to Feb. 4, 2025 demonstrates the PAF's commitment to self-reliance in aircraft maintenance and its readiness to (support national security and humanitarian missions," Castillo said.
The PAF operates four C-130 cargo planes in its inventory.
It said the aircraft's successful restoration highlights the service's commitment to maintaining a robust and ready fleet in support of national defense and disaster relief operations. (PNA)
