MANILA -- Philippine Army (PA) chief, Lt. Gen. Roy Galido, hailed the Basilan-based 101st "Three Red Arrows" Infantry Brigade for its role in maintaining peace and progress in the province.
Col. Louie Dema-ala, PA spokesperson, on Monday said the Army commander made this known following a recent visit to the unit's headquarters at Camp Luis Biel II, Barangay Tabiawan, Isabela City.
He added that Galido expressed his appreciation for the troops' discipline, dedication and sacrifice in ensuring the security of the people of Basilan.
Likewise, Galido commended the 101st Infantry Brigade, commanded by Brig. Gen. Alvin Luzon, for its various community engagements and its support for the Bangsamoro peace process which is currently in the normalization phase.
Dema-ala also said the PA chief also talked about sustaining the troops' high morale and welfare, highlighting the focus on non-commissioned officers' leadership and empowerment, issuance of new sets of uniforms and updates on the additional subsistence allowance.
"Our work is extremely hazardous and high risk - that's why our compensation is significant. But that should never lead to complacency. In this line of duty, a single mistake, one wrong assessment, could mean everything. The question is: is your family ready for that?" Galido told the troops. (PNA)
