MANILA -- The Revised Naval Cooperation Plan (NCP) 2025 of the Philippine Navy (PN) will focus on protecting maritime sovereignty, enhancing operational readiness and fostering regional stability.
The NCP 2025 is anchored on the Comprehensive Archipelagic Defense Concept, which seeks to defend the country's territories that include the 200-nautical exclusive economic zone, according to a Facebook post Monday.
"It (SCP 2025) provides a structured roadmap for the Navy's security cooperation engagements, focusing on bilateral and multilateral cooperation, maritime domain awareness, and adherence to international maritime law," the PN said.
The NCP 2025 includes specific guidelines and strategies for engaging not only partner navies and defense industries but also other countries that can contribute to achieving the objectives of the plan.
It focuses on strengthening alliances with key regional and global players; promoting multilateral maritime cooperation activities to counter common security threats; safeguarding maritime interests through joint patrols, capacity building, and information sharing; and enhancing operational readiness and interoperability.
The Revised NCP 2025 was developed through close collaboration among key stakeholders, including Capt. Nerelito Martinez, assistant chief of Naval Staff for Plans (N-5), and the PN's International Defense and Security Engagement Cluster, chaired by N-5 chief Rear Admiral Alan Javier. (PNA)
