Baltic foreign ministers: The decision by the outgoing US administration creates artificial divides
In a joint statement released today, Margus Tsahkna, Baiba Braže and Kęstutis Budrys, the foreign ministers of Estonia, Latvia and Lithuania respectively, say that they are concerned by the U.S. administration's decision to exclude several countries from Paragraph (a) to Supplement No. 5 to Part 740 of the U.S. Framework for the Artificial Intelligence Diffusion. This decision risks creating artificial divisions in the EU Single Market and undermine the development of our national Al ecosystems, the ministers say, adding that they stand ready to work with the European Commission and the U.S. administration to address their countries' concerns.
Yesterday Tsahkna spoke about the US decision and its impact on Europe with Henna Virkunen, Executive Vice-president of the European Commission for technological sovereignty, security and democracy.
