Comment by Foreign Minister Margus Tsahkna on the decision by the United States to deepen cooperation with Nordic-Baltic (NB8) countries to defend critical infrastructure.
"The decision by the United States on deepening cooperation with Nordic and Baltic States in defending critical infrastructure is very welcome, especially in light of recent attacks on our vital structures. The closer our cooperation with our Allies and partners, the better defended we are.
This decision also contributes to practical cooperation in defending submarine infrastructure in NATO and steps up consultations between the USA and Nordic and Baltic countries. Estonia considers cooperation in boosting cable repair capabilities particularly important, as well as closer cooperation with the private sector.
Our NATO Allies and we take the defence of critical infrastructure seriously. We will continue boosting our cooperation and we have the readiness and capability to give a very concrete response in defence of our infrastructure."
