MANILA -- Any construction or reclamation activities in the Bajo de Masinloc is a "red line" or an unacceptable action, the Philippine Navy said Tuesday.
The Armed Forces of the Philippines (AFP) has appropriate contingency plans in place in the event the red line will be breached, Navy spokesperson for the West Philippine Sea (WPS) Rear Admiral Roy Vincent Trinidad said in a press briefing Tuesday.
"There are four red lines given by the government. One of these is the no reclamation on Bajo de Masinloc," he said. "Non-negotiable na gagawa sila ng (if they will do) any structural reclamation on Bajo de Masinloc."
Despite developments in Bajo de Masinloc and the WPS, Trinidad said the AFP will not be deterred in performing its mandate of conducting maritime patrols and air surveillance flights.
Trinidad said the AFP is eyeing more activities with its "treaty allies and other partner nations" in the country's maritime territories.
This includes Bajo de Masinloc, Northern Islands, Eastern Seaboard and the WPS.
"For last year, I think we had 10 multilateral maritime activities. We expect more for the year 2025. These are geared towards developing our capabilities and showing us what are the modern technologies that we could be aspiring for," he said. (PNA)
