Today, December 2, Foreign Minister Margus Tsahkna imposed sanctions on 11 Georgian officials, including Georgian Interior Minister Vakhtang Gomelauri and Bidzina Ivanishvili, Honorary Chairman of the Georgian ruling party Georgian Dream, banning them from entering Estonia.

According to Tsahkna, the entry ban was imposed on these individuals due to their participation in serious human rights violations by aggressively suppressing legitimate protests in Georgia.

"The Georgian people should be able to stand up for their rights because their ruling party has been systematically lying to Georgians for a long time, and people have the right to express their feelings through protests. Violence against protesters is disproportionate and against human rights," said Tsahkna.

Among others, Bidzina Ivanishvili, who is the Honorary Chairman of the Georgian ruling party Georgian Dream, was sanctioned. Ivanishvili is considered to be the formulator of the Georgian government's policy, and is therefore responsible for the repression of pro-Western individuals in the country. In addition, Georgian Interior Minister Vakhtang Gomelaur was also sanctioned.

Other Georgian officials sanctioned include Shalva Bedoidze (Deputy Minister of Internal Affairs of Georgia), Giorgi Butkhuzi (Deputy Minister of Internal Affairs of Georgia), Ioseb Chelidze (Deputy Minister of Internal Affairs of Georgia), Aleksandre Darakhvelidze (Deputy Minister of Internal Affairs of Georgia), Mirza Kezevadze (Deputy Director of the Special Tasks Department of the Ministry of Internal Affairs of Georgia), Zviad Kharazishvili (Director of the Special Tasks Department of the Ministry of Internal Affairs of Georgia), Teimuraz Kupatadze (Director of the Central Criminal Police Department of the Ministry of Internal Affairs of Georgia), Mileri Lagazauri (Deputy Director of the Special Tasks Department of the Ministry of Internal Affairs of Georgia), Vaja Siradze (Director of the Patrol Police Department of the Ministry of Internal Affairs of Georgia).

Latvia and Lithuania also imposed entry bans.
