On Thursday, President Gitanas Nausėda continues his official visit to Poland where together with Polish President Andrzej Duda, he visited the headquarters of the Lithuanian-Polish-Ukrainian joint military unit—the Grand Hetman Kostiantyn Ostrogski Brigade, in Lublin.
The Lithuanian-Polish-Ukrainian Brigade (LITPOLUKRBRIG), established in 2014, is currently focused on supporting the Ukrainian armed forces in their combat. The brigade is conducting the United for Peace operation and training staff officers from Ukrainian battalions.
The Presidents of Lithuania and Poland were briefed on the brigade's current tasks and planned future initiatives.
"The trilateral brigade is an important instrument for supporting Ukraine and training its military personnel. It helps to ensure the development of military cooperation between our countries, operational synergy and the development of new initiatives in support of Ukraine. We need to continue to strengthen and expand the capabilities of the Lithuanian-Polish-Ukrainian Brigade," the Head of State pointed out.
During his visit to the brigade's headquarters in Lublin, President Gitanas Nausėda was joined by Lithuania's Chief of Defense, General Raimundas Vaikšnoras.
