On July 22, 2024, the first two of 14 Slovak F-16 Block 70 aircraft landed at Malacky Air Base, Slovakia, after a 10-hour flight from Greenville, South Carolina.

The F-16 Fight Falcons were welcomed in a ceremony attended by senior civilian and military leaders from Slovakia and U.S. Embassy Bratislava, ushering a new era in Slovakia's ability to patrol its skies and support collective deterrence and defense in Europe.

U.S. Ambassador to Slovakia Gautam Rana attended the ceremony on behalf of the U.S. to celebrate and commend Slovakia's 2018 decision to procure 14 of the most modern model of the F-16 fighter as a historic military modernization effort.

The two aircraft were piloted from the U.S. by members of the Indiana National Guard, Slovakia's State Partnership partner of 30 years, highlighting the longstanding, mutual defense relationship between the two nations.
