Blinken spoke today with Foreign Minister of the United Arab Emirates Sheikh Abdullah bin Zayed Al Nahyan about the proposal on the table for a durable peace in Gaza, which would achieve a full and complete ceasefire, secure the release of all hostages, and surge humanitarian assistance throughout Gaza. They discussed the proposal's benefits for the people of Gaza, including through the return of civilians to North Gaza and the beginning of a major reconstruction plan.
The Secretary thanked the Foreign Minister for the UAE's humanitarian assistance to Palestinians in need throughout the conflict. The Secretary reiterated that the proposal is in the interests of both Israelis and Palestinians and that Hamas should accept the deal without delay.
