
International Baltic Military Conference to see passionate debate and latest security topics

Thursday, March 21, the two-day International Baltic Military Conference co-organized by the Ministry of National Defence and General Jonas Žemaitis Military Academy of Lithuania will begin at the Town Hall of the capital. The gathering which is becoming the most influential annual event on defence will address the most pressing security and defence topics.
Titled "From Vilnius to Washington, D.C.: Shaping NATO's Future in a New Era of Collective Defence" this year, the Conference will pull together the most valued experts from across Europe and the United States, senior officers, and representatives of Lithuanian and foreign defence institutions, NATO and the academia in the heart of Vilnius.
"This Conference is an excellent platform for exchanging views and information on the importance of collective defence, NATO and transatlantic relations, geopolitical tensions and daily challenges for defence experts, officers and defence policy makers. The times it takes place in offer volumes of topics for defence experts need to look into and to share their years-long experience," says Defence Policy Director Vaidotas Urbelis.
Conference panels will look into lessons learned in Russia's war against Ukraine and the European posture in the face if the Russian-Ukrainian war. Other topics include NATO's military resilience and adaptability to the changing environment, as well as NATO's prospects and challenges ahead.
This year the Conference will be attended by speakers from the United States to Ukraine. Some of the speakers include former U.S. Secretary of the Army Ryan D. McCarthy, Parliamentary State Secretary at the Federal Ministry of Defence of Germany Siemtje Moeller, Deputy Supreme Allied Commander Transformation General Chris Badia, Deputy Supreme Allied Commander Europe (DSACEUR) Admiral Keith E. Blount, former Supreme Allied Commander Europe Philip M. Breedlove, former Minister of Defence of Ukraine Oleksii Reznikov and many other experienced policy-makers, academia representatives and officers.
The Baltic Military Conference was established in 2019 aiming to become a high-level defence forum focusing on the regional dimension.
The Conference requires invitation and registration in advance and is held in observation of the Chatham House rules. The opening addresses are planned to be delivered by the former U.S. Secretary of the Army R. D. McCarthy, Parliamentary State Secretary at the Federal Ministry of Defence of Germany Siemtje Moeller, former Minister of Defence of Ukraine Oleksii Reznikov. The event will be broadcast live at LRT.lt website and Facebook account of the General Jonas Žemaitis Military Academy of Lithuania.
