President Gitanas Nausėda continues his visit to Paris, where on Wednesday, he opened a bilateral France-Lithuania Defense Industry Forum.

Addressing the Forum, the Lithuanian leader stressed that the war in Ukraine is not only Russia's war against Ukraine. According to the President, Putin's goal is to destroy Europe and to get the USA to step back from its global leadership position.

"Time is of utmost importance. Putin has put Russia firmly on the path of war—expansion and aggression will not stop unless we stop them. We must stop Russia beyond our borders," Gitanas Nausėda spoke at the event.

The President stressed that Europe's main priorities should now focus on helping Ukraine achieve victory and increasing investments in our own security and defense.

"We need to produce ammunition and armaments in much larger quantities and at much higher speeds, and to prioritize deliveries to Ukraine and European allies. This is not just about helping Ukraine. This is an investment in our own security and our own future," the Head of State underlined.

According to Gitanas Nauseda, more cooperation between nations is needed to make the most of the common potential of the European defense industry. The President pointed out that Lithuania's defense industry is rapidly growing as a result of political support, amendments to legislation, and new financial instruments. Lithuania is now able to offer high-end innovative technological solutions and will strive to accelerate modernization and progress of the defense sector in the future.

President Gitanas Nausėda underlined that in the current security situation, cooperation between Lithuanian and French defense companies is of particular importance and value. The Head of State called on the Forum participants to forge long-term partnerships and to contribute through cooperation to Europe's security and resilience to external threats.
