On 18 January, the Lithuanian Foreign Minister Gabrielius Landsbergis met with executives of the US company Lockheed Martin.
"Geopolitical uncertainty across the world and in this region makes us all take greater responsibility for national and regional security. An increase in defence spending, opportunities for defence industry companies to operate in free economic zones, and other incentives are a signal to our partners and defence industry companies that our plans to strengthen security are long-term," said Landsbergis following the meeting.
The minister and the company's executives discussed why it is important to invest in our region, where defence capabilities will be concentrated in the future, how to ensure reliable defence chains, and agreed that their cooperation will continue.
"We offer the best conditions for the defence industry to invest in Lithuania. We have the necessary experience, and hope that Lithuania's defence investments will become the basis for carrying out the repair and production of military equipment in Lithuania," said Landsbergis.
