Tehran-ISNA- Iran's Foreign Minister, Hossein Amirabdollahian, engaged in a telephone conversation with his Russian counterpart, Sergey Lavrov, concerning various issues on the bilateral relations agenda and regional developments, encompassing the latest events in the war on Gaza and the Red Sea situation.
Amirabdollahian shared with his Russian counterpart various topics on the bilateral relations agenda, such as transit and the comprehensive and strategic cooperation agreement between the two countries.
Criticizing the U.S.'s attempt to pass a resolution against Yemen under the pretext of defending Red Sea security, the Iranian Foreign Minister, while emphasizing the importance of international maritime security, stressed: "The developments in the Red Sea are related to Gaza and the behavior of the U.S. and the Israeli regime towards Palestine; and, proposing such a resolution lays the groundwork for increased American military presence in the region and the Red Sea."

Iran's foreign minister stressed the necessity of halting the attacks on Gaza and the killing of the oppressed Palestinian people.

Lavrov emphasized: "Similar to Iran, we also desire peace in the region, an end to the war in the Gaza Strip, and the establishment of a Palestinian state."
Emphasizing the need to expand bilateral relations, Lavrov stressed the significance of finalizing the comprehensive and strategic cooperation agreement between the two countries, focusing on enhancing and promoting bilateral cooperation in the transit transportation between them.
The two sides discussed the final steps regarding the long-term cooperation agreement between Tehran and Moscow and the implementation of the Rasht-Astara railway project, alongside facilitating the movement of Iranian truckers on the Belarus-Russia route.
