Iranian Foreign Minister Hossein Amir-Abdollahian said the concept of the two-state solution in Palestine will not help the Palestinian cause, since Palestine is currently occupied by Zionists.

Tehran (ISNA) - Speaking to an online Doha Forum, the foreign minister argued that the US use of its veto power at the UN Security Council to allow atrocities in Gaza to continue indicates that Washington completely supports the Israeli occupation and apartheid.

He recalled Iran's diplomatic suggestion for resolving the issue, emphasizing Iran's position regarding Palestine is that there should exist one state and one state only, while the Jewish population can either choose to live under this government like the rest of the citizens or travel to another country.

Iranian parliament Mojtaba Zonnouri told Sputnik in early November that "Muslim countries must come to an agreement and take practical action ... There are two options for action. According to the first option, most Arab countries favor the creation of two independent states - Palestine and Israel. Iran does not accept this scenario. Iran has the simplest and most democratic proposal ... We accept any type of one state and government formed by democratic elections."

Amir-Abdollahian emphasized on Friday the urgent need for swift and effective actions by the international community and relevant international institutions to halt the war crimes being committed by Israel against the people in Gaza.

In a phone call with the Secretary-General of the Palestinian Islamic Jihad Movement, Ziyad al-Nakhalah, the Foreign Minister discussed the developments of the devastating aggression on the Strip.

Amir-Abdollahian also briefed Al-Nakhalah on the recent diplomatic efforts undertaken by Arab and Islamic countries, including Iran. This includes the talks by the Iranian President Ebrahim Raisi with his Russian counterpart in Moscow on Thursday
