Iran Ministry of Foreign Affairs spokesman says United States standing against international community's demand for ceasefire in Gaza.

Tehran (ISNA) - In reaction to United States veto on United Nations Security Council draft resolution on humanitarian ceasefire in Gaza, Iran Foreign Ministry spokesman Nasser Kan'ani says recent developments shows that there is a deadlock in UNSC and this council is incapable of doing it's innate duties.

Speaking in weekly press conference on Monday in Tehran, Kan'ani refers to Israeli genocide in Gaza and said: "During 67 days of Zionists attacks on Gaza, killing machine of this regime have martyred about 18000 people".

Condemning US veto on UNSC resolution, Kan'ani states that "US stands alone against international community demand for ceasefire in Gaza and has voted to continue the brutality and barbarism of the Zionists against the Palestinian people."

The resolution presented by the United Arab Emirates. Thirteen countries vote in favor, the US vetoed and the UK abstained.

"UNSC situation is worrisome and this council has shown that it can not execute it's responsibility at critical times. We believe that UNSC should have been more responsible and it's member more democratic". Iran top diplomat added.
