This evening, we announced the fall of two IDF reservists in combat. Gal Meir Eisenkot and Jonathan David Deitch, lovers of the State of Israel, and its defenders. Gal fell in the battles of Jabalia and Jonathan in the Khan Yunis area. On behalf of the Chief of the Genral Staff and all IDF commanders, I extend my condolences to the families of all IDF fallen soldiers, the heroes of Israel. On a personal note, I would like to refer to Gal Eisenkot. In one of my roles, I was the assistant of Gadi Eisenkot when he was the Chief of the General Staff. I knew Gal personally, Gal was the salt of the earth, he enlisted in Shayetet 13 and then transferred to Maglan. He continued his life as a young man, started his academic studies, and volunteered for the IDF reserves. He was determined to fight terrorists in this war alongside his fellow soldiers. Gal is the salt of the earth, may his memory be a blessing. Each of the war fallen is a world unto themselves. I embrace the Eisenkot family and all the families of the fallen.
At 12:52 yesterday, Hamas launched a rocket from inside a humanitarian zone. The rocket misfired, putting many Gazan civilians at risk. Attached is an illustration of the launch:

The Hamas terrorist organisation abuses the people of Gaza, utilising them for its acts of terror. Hamas cynically embeds itself in civilian infrastructure, schools, residential areas, near United Nations facilities and even in humanitarian zones - using the civilians as a human shield.
