The US forces have been attacked 55 times in Iraq and Syria since Oct. 17, said Pentagon.

Tehran - (ISNA)- Speaking at a press briefing, Deputy Pentagon Spokeswoman Sabrina Singh said there have been 27 attacks against US forces in Iraq and 28 in Syria.

She also provided an update on the casualties sustained during these attacks.

Singh said a total of 59 US personnel have received injuries in the TBI (traumatic brain injury) or non-serious categories since the attacks began.

"Approximately 27 personnel have been evaluated for TBI and 32 for other non-serious injuries. As of today, all 59 have returned to duty," she added.

Her remarks came after the US military on Sunday conducted strikes on two targets in eastern Syria claimed to be used by so-called Iran-backed groups but "Islamic Resistance of Iraq" responded rapidly by hitting 2 US bases in eastern Syria.

The strikes are the third in less than three weeks, coinciding with heightened tensions in the Middle East due to Israel's fierce attack Gaza.

The assaults are believed to be in response to US support for Israel in the conflict.

At least 11,320 Palestinians have been martyred including more than 7,800 women and children, and over 29,200 others have been injured, according to the latest figures from Palestinian authorities.

Thousands of buildings, including hospitals, mosques and churches, have been damaged or destroyed in the Israeli offensive.

The Israeli death toll, meanwhile, stands at 1,200, according to official figures.
