Iranian, Russian FMs discuss latest developments in Gaza

Tehran (ISNA) - Iranian Foreign Minister, Hossein Amir-Abdollahian and his Russian counterpart Sergei Lavrov have held talks on the phone over the latest developments in Palestine and Gaza as well as some bilateral and regional issues.

The Iranian foreign minister spoke about the developments in Gaza and warned of the possibility of the conflict expanding in the region.

Amir-Abdollahian underlined the need for international efforts to stop the war and the crimes of the Zionist regime in Gaza and the West Bank.

The Russian foreign minister, for his part, referred to the joint views of his country and the Islamic Republic of Iran regarding the Palestinian crisis and the special situation of Gaza.

Lavrov said the Russian government is worried that the war will expand and the situation will spiral out of control.

The two top diplomats then exchanged views over a draft resolution proposed by Brazil at the UN Security Council and its content.

They also held talks over bilateral ties between Tehran and Moscow and underlined the necessity of expanding the relations.

Amir-Abdollahian and Lavrov described the upcoming meeting by the prime ministers of the Caspian Sea littoral states as important.
