"We will intensify our efforts aimed at meeting Gazan people's urgent needs"

Presidency Of The Republic Of Turkey

26.10.2023

Speaking at the 8th Meeting of the Family Council, President Erdoğan said: "We will further intensify our efforts aimed at meeting the urgent needs of the Gazan people. Since October 7, we have been continuing our diplomatic talks at every level while endeavoring to deliver humanitarian aid to Gaza."

President Recep Tayyip Erdoğan made a speech during the 8th Meeting of the Family Council at Beştepe Nation's Convention and Culture Center.

Noting that one of the areas that the global conscience must take action in is Gaza, President Erdoğan said: "Under the pretext of the shock they experienced, the Israeli administration has since October 7 been conducting a merciless massacre against our Palestinian brothers and sisters.

"THE BIGGEST VICTIMS ARE WOMEN AND INNOCENT CHILDREN"

"I have called on the Catholic world through Pope Francis this morning. The Israeli forces have been bombing mosques, churches, schools, market places, and even hospitals. Over 6 thousand brothers and sisters of ours, most of whom were children and women, have thus far died a martyr's dead in the Israel's attacks on Gaza and Ramallah. Also 17 thousand people, most of whom are once again children and women, have been injured. Over 12 thousand tons of bombs have so far been dropped over 2.3 million people who have been struggling to hold on to life within a totally-encircled 360-square-kilometer narrow area of land. America is there, Europe is there, they are there with all their means, and they pay visits there separately. Almost half of the houses in Gaza have either been damaged, collapsed or become unusable. According to the UN, 600 thousand Gazan people have been displaced. The UN teams are currently planning, intending to leave the place at any moment."

"As is the case in all wars, the biggest victims here have been women and innocent children once again, and they continue to be so," President Erdoğan noted, and added: "Is it possible to remain unresponsive to the reports and photographs from Gaza? No act, no matter how traumatic it is, legitimizes such a brutality. The attacks on Gaza have already exceeded the limit of self-defense and turned into oppression, atrocity, massacre and brutality. What is saddening is that the uncivilized who pretend to be civilized merely watches this brutality."

"HOW MANY MORE CHILDREN HAVE TO DIE IN ORDER FOR THE EUROPEAN COMMISSION TO MAKE A CALL FOR CEASEFIRE?"

Reminding that the European Commission announced yesterday that they could not call for a ceasefire at the moment, President Erdoğan stressed: "All western countries, as if acting in concert, provides unconditional support to the attacks instead of calling on the Israeli administration to act with commonsense. Those who pontificate about human rights and freedoms when it comes to rhetoric, have for 19 days been ignoring the 'right to live' of oppressed Gazan people."

President Erdoğan continued as follows: "They are openly showing which lobbies they serve by sending aircraft carrier and warships instead of aid ships. We have known you well enough, and will continue to know. This is called hypocrisy, this is called adding fuel to fire. Let me hereby ask: How many more children have to die in order for the European Commission to make a call for ceasefire? How many more tons of bombs have to be dropped to Gaza in order for the United Nations Security Council to take action? How many more women, children and elderly have to lose their lives in order for western organizations to say 'No' to the massacre? How many more colleagues of them have to be targeted by bombs in order for international media outlets to write, tell or report the truth? How much time do we have to wait in order to end this crisis that has turned our region into a quagmire?"

Underscoring that the blame for every innocent person wrapped in white shroud is on those who allow all this with their hesitant attitudes as well as those who drop the bombs, President Erdoğan said: "All, from media outlets that betray all principles in order to justify crimes against humanity to international organizations that persistently ignore the massacres, share the responsibility for the ongoing brutality in Gaza and on Palestinian lands."

"WE ARE ENDEAVORING TO DELIVER HUMANITARIAN AID TO GAZA"

President Erdoğan further noted: "We will further intensify our efforts aimed at meeting the urgent needs of the Gazan people. Since October 7, we have been continuing our diplomatic talks at every level while endeavoring to deliver humanitarian aid to Gaza. We have thus far sent 10 planeloads of aid supply to Al-Arish Airport in co-operation with Egyptian officials. Lastly, yesterday we sent the generators that Gaza needed the most."

Pointing out that Türkiye has also dispatched 25 healthcare personnel as well as medical supplies to Egypt, President Erdoğan went on to say: "The aid supplies we have sent to Egypt in order for them to reach Gaza exceeds 200 tons. We are working with brotherly Egypt to deliver the aid to Gazan people. We stand ready to provide all kinds of aid, from building field hospitals to bringing the injured to our country for treatment. We will inshallah send our civilian aid ship, preparations of which is underway, to the region once the conditions allow. We stand ready to provide all kinds of medical, psychological and other support to children affected by the attacks."

Drawing attention to relevant ministries' works carried out under the auspices of First Lady Emine Erdoğan, President Erdoğan said: "In addition to all this, we as Türkiye will never hesitate to take on responsibility as to heal the wounds rapidly and prevent the humanitarian tragedy."
