The Lithuanian-initiated and coordinated EU Cyber Rapid Response Team (CRRT) has set forth an ambitious plan for 2024 which encompasses three different directions with assistance from EU partners: assessment of national cyber vulnerability, strengthening the capability, and testing and approval of the multifunctional cybersecurity toolkit developed by the CYBER4DE Consortium under Lithuanian business leadership.

On September 28 the annual meeting of members of the Lithuanian-coordinated Cyber Rapid Response Teams (CRRT) project under the European Union European Union the Permanent Structured Cooperation (PESCO) took place in the Ministry of National Defence. It covered preparation for the sixth CRRT rotation under Lithuanian leadership in 2024. This year capability is headed by Croatia.

"Cooperation in cybersecurity is particularly important, while more than five years of a close and especially effective partnership among CRRT members made the project become one the leaders in PESCO framework. I hope that the CRRTs will retain this level of impact and visibility in 2024 as well," said Vice Minister Greta Monika Tučkutė welcoming CRRT members to Vilnius.

Belgium, Slovenia and Denmark became full-fledged members of the project in 2023. The current CRRT composition includes 14-16 cybersecurity experts delegated at national level by Belgium, Denmark, Estonia, Croatia, Lithuania, Poland, Netherlands, Romania, and Slovenia. Three more countries are in the process of weighing the possibility of becoming members of the projects.

Formed in 2018, the EU CRRT offers assistance in managing cyber incidents or preventive measures (vulnerability assessment, election observation, etc.). The CRRT capability was successfully tested in the past year assisting such partner nations as Ukraine and Moldova, as well as the European Union Training Mission in Mozambique.
