On the sidelines of the Vilnius NATO Summit, President Gitanas Nausėda met with Australian Prime Minister Anthony Albanese to exchange views on bilateral cooperation, global security issues and NATO cooperation.
The Head of State congratulated the Prime Minister of Australia—NATO's Indo-Pacific partner—on his first visit to Lithuania on the special occasion of the Vilnius NATO Summit.
"Despite the geographical distance, we are like-minded and close friends, defending the values of democracy and the international rules-based order. We greatly value the partnership between NATO and Australia and Australia's support for Ukraine," the Lithuanian leader spoke during the meeting.
The President thanked Australia for its military and humanitarian assistance to Ukraine and called on it to continue mobilizing the international community to help Ukraine win the war against the aggressor Russia. Only this will prevent other aggressive states from following the precedents set by Russia.
Gitanas Nausėda underlined the excellent bilateral relations and welcomed the growth in economic ties. Australia is one of Lithuania's main partners in the Indo-Pacific region. The President also urged expanding cooperation in the sectors of high added value products and services such as life sciences, financial and defense technologies.
