On June 19-25 fighter aircraft conducting the NATO Air Policing Mission in the Baltic states were scrambled 4 times to identify and escort aircraft of the Russian Federation flying in violation of flight rules in international airspace and once to patrol the airspace over the Baltic Sea.
On June 19 NATO Baltic Air Policing Mission Detachment were scrambled to intercept and escort one AN-30 flying through international airspace from and back to Kaliningrad. Its onboard transponder was on, the crew was not maintaining radio communication with the regional air traffic control centre and did not have a pre-filed flight plan. .
On June 20 NATO fighter aircraft patrol the airspace over the Baltic Sea.
On June 20 the air policing fighter jets were scrambled to intercept two SU-27 flying from Kaliningrad and back via international airspace. The aircraft had no flight plans, their onboard transponders were switched off and the crews were not maintaining radio communication.
In the course of the same scramble NATO fighter aircraft also intercepted one TU-134 flying from Kaliningrad to mainland Russia through international airspace. Its onboard transponder was switched on, the crew did not have the flight plan but maintained radio communication.
On June 22 NATO fighter jets intercepted two SU-27 flying in international airspace from Kaliningrad and back, without the flight plan, their onboard transponders off, not maintain radio communication.
While on the same scramble, the NATO air policing fighter aircraft also intercepted one TU-134 flying in international airspace from mainland Russia to Kaliningrad. The flight had no flight plan, the crew was maintaining radio communication and had the onboard transponder switched on.
On June 23 NATO air policing fighter jets identified and escorted one IL-76 flying in international airspace from Kaliningrad to mainland Russia without the flight plan, not using the onboard transponder, though maintaining the radio communication.
