In accordance with the agreed delivery schedule, 14 Tank Battalion Trebišov has been strengthened by a third Leopard 2A4 main battle tank as a gift from Germany for Slovakia's transfer of 30 BVP-1 infantry fighting vehicles to Ukraine.
As with all the other Leopard 2A4s delivered to Slovakia, industry-level maintenance and repairs on the latest Leopard 2A4 were conducted by Rheinmetall Landsysteme GmbH.
To be accepted into service with the Slovak Army, all Leopard 2A4 MBTs must undergo trials at the Military Technical and Testing Institute (VTSÚ) Záhorie, where tank munitions test firings are currently being carried out. The training of tank crews by the Bundeswehr's Leopard tank instructors at the Training Centre (TC) Lešť is scheduled for this summer.
An additional 12 Leopard 2A4s will have been delivered to the Slovak Army by the end of this year.
