Political Process Spokesman in Sudan Calls Jeddah Ceasefire Agreement a Step towards Ending War in Sudan

Khartoum, May 21, 2023, SPA -- The spokesman for the political process in Sudan, Engineer Khaled Omar Youssef, stated that the Jeddah agreement for a short-term ceasefire and humanitarian arrangements is essential to ending the Sudan crisis.

Youssef stressed the need for the Armed Forces and Rapid Support Forces to follow the provisions of the Jeddah agreement to ensure a permanent ceasefire.

Youssef thanked the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia and the United States of America for standing by Sudan during the political crisis and joining their efforts to reach a permanent agreement.

The spokesman also recognized the regional and international efforts to help achieve the ceasefire and mobilize humanitarian support for the country.
