Mr Mirzoyan, friends,

We are delighted to welcome you to Moscow. We have managed to set up a trilateral ministerial meeting and a meeting between you and your Azerbaijani counterpart today.

The Russian Federation is making its platform available for the talks and will do its best to create the necessary conditions to allow you to move forward in your talks on all tracks that were articulated in the trilateral statements by the presidents of Russia and Azerbaijan and the Prime Minister of the Republic of Armenia.

We appreciated Nikol Pashinyan attending the May 9 parade to commemorate the Soviet peoples' victory in the Great Patriotic War. We hope he will be able to take part in the session of the Supreme Eurasian Economic Council in Moscow on May 25. It will be an important event.

We have an interest in continuing to advance every agreement between our leaders, primarily, trade and economic cooperation, which has truly become a driving engine behind Russian-Armenian relations. I believe we will touch upon our interaction within the integration associations such as the CSTO, the EAEU and the CIS.

Today's talks focus on normalising Armenia-Azerbaijan relations. The role of the trilateral agreements signed by the leaders of the three countries is critically important and should be of utmost importance while identifying solutions to the issues related to the peace treaty, the unblocking of roads and the delimitation with the ensuing demarcation of the border.

I think progress in these areas is a key pre-condition for achieving lasting peace in the South Caucasus. Russia plays a historical role in this region and has major interests at stake. I am convinced that our allies are aware of that.

We will strive to do everything possible in this capacity to make sure today's meetings are useful and bring about concrete results.
