Defence Ministers of the Baltic states agreed to increase Host Nation portion of spending in support of the NATO Air Policing Mission in the Baltic states.
Meeting in Jekabpils on May 16-17, Baltic Defence Ministers Arvydas Anušauskas, Inara Mūrniece and Hanno Pevkur signed an updated agreement to consolidate the commitment of all three Baltic states to increase financing of the Host Nation Support to the NATO Baltic Air Policing Mission detachments.
"The NATO Air Policing Mission in the Baltic states stands out as one of the best examples of our collective effort ensuring regional security with success. Obviously, that requires Host Nation commitments so that proper support is provided for deploying Allied military personnel. I am confident that our mutual efforts to ensure better conditions for Allied presence and training in the Baltic region will pay dividends univocally," said Minister of National Defence A. Anušauskas.
Ministers A. Anušauskas, I. Mūrniece and H. Pevkur also agreed to step the Baltic cooperation in the area of military training.
"Currently all the Baltic states are especially focussed on military infrastructure development and improvement for the benefit of NATO Allies and national forces alike. We have agreed to share best practices and aim for a breakthrough in military training through joined Baltic military raining capabilities," said A. Anušauskas.
Baltic Ministers of Defence also discussed at the meeting in Jekabpils the upcoming NATO Summit in Vilnius and support to Ukraine.
