Tehran (ISNA) - The head of Iran's Strategic Council on Foreign Relations Kamal Kharrazi emphasized, "Reforming the UN's policies on Yemen's crisis will be a key to success for the body to reach a stable ceasefire".
Kamal Kharrazi held a meeting with the United Nations Secretary-General's Special Envoy for Yemen, Hans Grundberg during which he stated, "Iran is ready to fully support the mission of the UN to continue ceasefire in Yemen. The final results of these efforts should be the starting of negotiations of Yemeni-Yemeni without any external interference, establishing a political system based on people's votes and reconstructing Yemen".
He noted, "The important factor leading the UN to maintain ceasefire in Yemen is proving neutrality and imposing pressure on the US and Europe to stop selling weapons to Saudi Arabia and United Arab Emirates. If selling weapons to these countries isn't stopped, the conflict will drag on".
The head of Iran's Strategic Council on Foreign Relations described Yemeni people as careful and decisive people, while adding, "All are aware of the human suffering in Yemen in the past seven years. The more conflict resumes, the more destruction, killing and poverty will be occurred".
Grundberg, in his turn, referred to the latest political situation of Yemen, as appreciating Iran's support from his mission to continue ceasefire.
