Moscow welcomes the decision of the authorities of the Republic of Yemen and the Houthi movement Ansar Allah to once again extend the truce in the country for another two months on the same terms.
We note with satisfaction that the ceasefire, which has been in effect since April 2, 2022, is observed practically without violations, and significantly eases the humanitarian situation of the civilian population of Yemen. This creates an opportunity for further stabilisation in the country and facilitates the transition to full-fledged talks between the Yemeni conflicting political forces.
We praise the efforts of Special Envoy of the UN Secretary-General Hans Grundberg, as well as Saudi Arabia, the United Arab Emirates and Oman, which played a key role in establishing intra-Yemeni contacts in order to prolong the truce for a third two-month period.
We hope that regular extensions of the truce will make it possible to consolidate the positive developments in the search for solutions to the Yemeni conflict that has dragged on for years. This, first of all, will depend on the Yemeni protagonists maintaining a constructive dialogue with the UN in order to implement the current provisions of the ceasefire regime and the possible expansion of its parameters with an eye to achieving a comprehensive settlement in long-suffering Yemen.
