Three Killed In Bomb, Gun Attacks in Afghan Capital

By Radio Free Afghanistan December 13, 2020

Kabul police say that at least three people have been killed in separate bomb and gun attacks in Afghanistan's capital.

The violence on December 13 came one day after a series of mortar attacks hit the city and its airport, killing at least one person.

Ferdaws Faramarz, a spokesman for the Kabul police chief, said a magnetic "sticky" bomb attached to an armored vehicle killed two people, and wounded two others.

He also said that a government prosecutor was fatally shot in eastern Kabul as he traveled to his office.

There was no immediate claim of responsibility for the attacks.

Violence in Afghanistan has skyrocketed in recent months even as the Taliban and Afghan government negotiators try to hammer out a peace deal that could put an end to decades of war.

Some of the violence has seen Taliban fighters facing off against groups like Islamic State fighters, adding to concerns of chaos

The United States is also struggling to finalize plans to withdraw thousands of troops from the country.
