“Caucasus 2020” military drills kick off with Iran in attendance

Tehran (ISNA) – “Caucasus 2020” military drills kicked off on Monday with the Islamic Republic of Iran in attendance.

Iran’s Embassy in Moscow stressed that the event is aimed at reinforcing confidence and security.

The Caucasus-2020 exercise is being held from September 21 to 26 on the territory of the Southern Military District, in the Black and Caspian seas under the direction of Chief of the Russian General Staff Army General Valery Gerasimov.

Up to 12,900 servicemen will occur in episodes covered by the Vienna Document of the Negotiations on Confidence and Security-Building Measures of 2011.

Servicemen from Iran, Armenia, Belarus, China, Myanmar, Pakistan, Azerbaijan, Indonesia, Kazakhstan, Tajikistan, and Sri Lanka are also participating in the event.
