No militant group has so far taken responsibility for the attack.
At least two people were killed and 24 more injured after a bomb blast and gunfire near a prison in Afghanistan's eastern province of Nangarhar, Attaullah Khogyani, the provincial spokesman, said.
The explosion was followed by gunfire after the militants entered the prison and attacked security forces.
According to our source, 50 inmates have escaped from jail following the explosion. A security official later said that some of the fugitives had been recaptured.
The Daesh* have claimed responsibility for the attack, Reuters said.
