
Al-Maliki: Coalition forces achieve their goals and continue to support legitimacy

Riyadh, September 02, 2019, SPA -- Col. Turki al-Maliki, the spokesman of the coalition forces, Coalition to Restore Legitimacy in Yemen, confirmed that the command of the coalition forces in Yemen is working to achieve the main objectives of the establishment of this coalition of restoring legitimacy in Yemen, ending the Houthi coup and the elimination of terrorist organizations supported by Iran and restoring stability and security for the Yemeni people.
He stressed the coalition's commitment to all international laws and the application of the highest standards of military operations that take into account the humanitarian and moral side, while the Iranian-backed terrorist Houthi militias violate this by violating international laws and harming the security of the Yemeni people and the practice of terrorism towards the people.
During the periodic conference of the Joint Forces Command, al-Maliki reviewed the most important events in Yemen recently, in addition to the position of operations to restore hope to support legitimacy in Yemen, and breaches and threats by Houthi to regional and international security, and targeting Houthi capabilities.
He pointed out that the coalition to support legitimacy in Yemen achieves goals well while the legitimate forces advance to the regions and cities of Yemen with the support of the coalition, and therefore all the Houthi and Iranian media and some of the media of fake victories is not real, citing what has been achieved on the ground of positions confirming the coalition's control of operations and the success of the Yemeni National Army in controlling and securing the liberated areas and the tactical progress coinciding with the fight against terrorist organizations in all of Yemen.
The spokesman for the coalition forces that the Houthi violations of international humanitarian law and attempts to target the infrastructure of civilians, especially airports during the last period is still continuing systematically, pointing to the downing of 14 drones.
Colonel al-Maliki reviewed the most prominent live and video footage from the operations room of the coalition command that targeted the movements of Iranian-backed Houthi terrorist militias and rocket launchers and drones, including the targeting of caves or mountain cavities in the capital Sanaa, which belonged to the Yemeni Republican Guard, explaining that the Houthi militia try to use these caves to store drones and ballistic missiles.
He pointed out that the caves that were used are two main targets in the capital, the first target in Faj Atan, and the second target in Camp Anand.
Al-Maliki said that the coalition forces destroyed a military site of the Houthi militia in Dhamar, which is a store for drones and hostile air defense missiles in which the command of the coalition forces took all necessary measures regarding the targeting process as it is not on the list of non-targeting by the coalition forces in Dhamar city. It is a legitimate objective, indicating that there is prior coordination with the United Nations of restricted areas and non-targeting points.
Regarding the allegations of the Iranian-backed Houthi terrorist militias regarding the destroyed location that the militia tried to promote as a prison for captives, al-Maliki explained that the joint command does not have any prison in this area in accordance with prior coordination with the United Nations and organizations operating inside Yemen.
Maliki said, "The Joint Forces Command has a geographical system to follow the points of non-targeting in Yemen, the location identification.
Regarding what some reports said through the Red Cross from the resident representative in Yemen that they visited the site with many prisoners, the spokesman for the coalition forces said that the command of the joint forces of the coalition in accordance with the joint mechanism with organizations operating in Yemen, was not informed about this site, He held the Houthi militias full responsibility to take this site as a site of enforced disappearance of Yemeni citizens, noting that according to Article 23 of the Third Geneva Convention on Prisoners and War which confirms the importance of having signs of sites where there are prisoners or detainees.
He added, "Accordingly, the coalition has not been informed in this aspect and no documents have been received by the International Committee of the Red Cross in this regard, affirming the commitment of the coalition to apply the first Geneva Convention II, III and IV, and adherence to international humanitarian law and the application of the highest standards of targeting and best practices in the rules of engagement .
Al-Maliki pointed out that the Iranian-backed terrorist Houthi militia continued to violate international humanitarian law by targeting civilian objects and civilians by launching 14 drones that were shot down.
On the humanitarian side, the spokesman for the coalition forces confirmed that the relief outlets for Yemen (air / sea / land) continue to operate in addition to the permits issued by the command of the joint forces of the coalition.
He pointed out to the continued efforts of the Saudi program for the development and reconstruction of Yemen through humanitarian and developmental pilot projects.
On the Houthi violations, al-Maliki pointed out that the statistics of violations of the Houthi terrorist militia supported by Iran to the Stockholm agreement reached 7010 violations.
