Saudi jet fighter downed in northern Yemen

Tehran, July 12, IRNA -- An official with Yemen Defense Ministry said late Thursday that a Saudi Arabian jet fighter was downed on the way back from a military operation in Saada province in northern Yemen.
Speaking on condition of anonymity, the Yemeni official did not referred to the type of the warplane and probable casualties.
The Saudi-led coalition also confirmed crash of the Saudi Ari Force's jet fighter, but said the crash was due to a technical fault.
The Saudi-led coalition spokesperson Turki Al-Maliki said in a statement that one of the Tornado fighters belonging to Saudi Air Force crashed after returning from a training mission due to technical failure.
He noted that the two pilots of the fighter survived the incident without suffering any injury.
Panavia Tornado is a twin-engine and multipurpose fighter made by a consortium of three countries of Britain, Italy and Germany.
