NATO - North Atlantic Treaty Organisation

Nov 30, 2017

MONS, Belgium -- General Curtis M. Scaparrotti, the Supreme Allied Commander Europe, hosted a Commander's Conference at the Supreme Headquarters Allied Powers Europe from Nov. 29 to 30, 2017.

The conference was an opportunity for General Scaparrotti to meet face to face with his commanders to discuss NATO priorities, how the Alliance is evolving, and the importance of the command structure adapting to meet today's evolving security challenges.

"These commanders operate in an ever changing and dynamic environment. Conferences like this help all of us gain a better understanding on how to best succeed in our mission to support," said General Scaparrotti. "And having Secretary General Stoltenberg participate and provide his insight during our discussions was invaluable."

The conference featured a variety of briefings and discussions, culminating with a roundtable discussion with NATO Secretary General Jens Stoltenberg.

"It was a great pleasure to visit Supreme Headquarters Allied Powers Europe today. I had an excellent discussion with General Scaparrotti and other NATO senior commanders on our priorities and continuing adaptation for the 21st century," said NATO Secretary General Jens Stoltenberg. "As we prepare for the Brussels Summit next July, NATO is focused on how to further increase our capabilities to defend our nations and project stability beyond our borders, including in the fight against terrorism. And I expressed my gratitude to our senior commanders, and all our service men and women, for everything they do to keep our nations safe."
