Foreign Secretary of Pakistan Aizaz Ahmad Chaudhry briefed on Friday ambassadors of P5 countries on the alleged continued unprovoked ceasefire violations by the Indian forces on the Line of Control (LoC) and Working Boundary, the Pakistani Foreign Ministry said in a statement.

MOSCOW (Sputnik) – Chaudhry met on Friday with ambassadors of China, France, Russia, the United Kingdom and the United States, the statement reads.

"He stated that the use of such heavy weaponry was resorted to by the Indian side after a gap of 13 years. Pakistan has been compelled to respond but with maximum restraint," the statement reads.

The foreign secretary also alleged that India's actions, "which constituted a threat for the maintenance of peace and security," could lead to a strategic miscalculation.

The head of the Pakistani Foreign Ministry emphasized the important role of the UN Military Observers Group in India and Pakistan (UNMOGIP) which has the mandate for maintaining peace and tranquility at the LoC and the Working Boundary.

In response, the Heads of Missions assured that they would convey Pakistan's concern to their respective capitals. They underscored the need for restraint, observance of ceasefire and dialogue to resolve issues, the statement reads.

On Thursday, Chaudhry summoned the Indian high commissioner in Pakistan and condemned the alleged Indian aggression on the Line of Control and Working Boundary. He urged India to investigate the continued incidents of ceasefire violations.
