The Indian Border Security Forces (BFS) destroyed 14 Pakistan's border posts after Pakistani forces killed eight people on the territory of India during the shelling, according to local media.

NEW DELHI (Sputnik) – The Indian Border Security Forces (BFS) destroyed 14 Pakistan's border posts in response to a fire by the Pakistani military into India's territory, local media reported on Tuesday.

The BFS forces hit the Ramgarh and Arniya border posts in Jammu and Kashmir state in northern India in response to Pakistan's shelling, as a result of which eight people were killed and 22 injured, local media reported, citing the Indian army.

Reports emerged on October 30 that the Indian army destroyed on Saturday at least four Pakistan's border posts in the Keran sector along the Line of Control, killing up to 20 soldiers.

Kashmir has been disputed between India and Pakistan since the partition of India in 1947. The two countries have gone through three wars over the region, but the conflict has not been resolved.

The recent escalation of violence across the India-Pakistan border came after 19 Indian soldiers died as a result of the September 18 attack by armed militants on a base outside of Srinagar, the capital of India-administered Kashmir.
