Spokesman dismisses US claims over supplying arms for Yemen
IRNA - Islamic Republic News Agency
Tehran, Oct 31, IRNA -- Spokesman of the Foreign Ministry Bahram Qasemi condemned and rejected latest allegations raised by the US against Iran over alleged sending of military aid to Yemen.
Qasemi made the remarks while referring to the claims made by Head of the US Naval Forces Central Command Vice Admiral Kevin Donegan who has said that Iran had supplied Yemen with weapons and missiles.
"Such false claims are made while warmongers and traders of death and destruction keep on selling and shipping fatal weapons to Saudi Arabia despite widespresd criticizm and opposition made by awakened conscience and non-governmental organizations (NGOs)," Qasemi said.
He added that a large number of lethal weapons, bombs and US-made missiles are "rained down on Yemeni defenseless civilians in schools, hospitals, prisons and houses by the Saudi coalition on a daily basis and this has no name but war crimes."
"World nations are currently witnessing that the Saudi regime continues its horrible war crimes by intensifying brutal airstrikes, supported by certain powers, against the Yemeni people," Qasemi said.
He regretted that the massacre and genocide made by the Saudi regime was rewarded by supporting its membership to the United Nations Human Rights Council.
"This is a tragedy which will always remain as a black mark in the history of mankind," he said.
