U.S. Strike in Yemen Kills 1 Terrorist, Wounds Another

DoD News, Defense Media Activity

WASHINGTON, Oct. 5, 2016 – The U.S. military struck an al-Qaida target in the Arabian Peninsula, Sept. 29, in a remote area of Al Baydah Governate, Yemen, killing one terrorist and injuring another, according to a U.S. Central Command news release issued yesterday.

"The United States is committed to supporting security and stability in the region," Centcom spokesman Army Maj. Josh T. Jacques said in the release.

Degrading Terrorists' Ability to Conduct Operations

"We will take every measure available to degrade their ability to conduct operations," Jacques said.

Airstrikes carried out by the U.S. and its coalition partners hinder Al-Qaida in the Arabian Peninsula's ability to freely move throughout Yemen, the spokesman said.

"Anyone who chooses to involve themselves with AQAP accepts the risks of supporting terrorism," he said.
