Swiss Display Team's Northrop F-5E Jets Collide in Netherlands

Swiss Defense Department said that two Northrop F-5E fighter jets of the Swiss Air Force's display team collided in midair in the Netherlands.

MOSCOW (Sputnik) – Two Northrop F-5E fighter jets of the Swiss Air Force's display team collided in midair in the Netherlands, the Swiss Defense Department said Thursday.

One of the warplanes crashed while its pilot ejected to safety. The department said the cause for the collision was yet unknown.

The Patrouille Suisse display team was training near the Leeuwarden air base for an airshow that is scheduled for Friday and Saturday.
