IRNA - Islamic Republic News Agency
Islamabad, May 27, IRNA -- The drone strikes by the US in Pakistan, which Islamabad describes as counter-productive and violation of its sovereignty and territorial integrity, have seen a massive jump under President Obama as compared to the Bush administration.
According to figures revealed by London based 'Bureau of Investigative Journalism', there have been 424 US drone attacks in Pakistan from 2004-2016.
Some 373 of the strikes occurred during Obama's terms and 51 of the drone attacks happened under George Bush.
The latest US drone strike in Pakistan was carried earlier this week in Balochistan Province.
Experts in Pakistan believe that mostly civilians have become target of the drone attacks.
The greatest number of drone strikes on Pakistani soil, 128, were carried out in 2010, during US President Barack Obama's second year of presidency.
The US claims its deadly drone target militants and terrorists in Pakistan.
Terrorism has been on surge in Pakistan since 2004 when the US started its drone attacks in the southern Asian country.
At least 2,500 have been killed in US drone strikes on Pakistan. Pakistani experts believe over 80 percent of the casualties are from ordinary people including women and children.
