PORT VICTORIA, Seychelles (NNS) -- Guided-missile destroyer USS Gravely (DDG 107) arrived in Port Victoria, Dec. 23, for a scheduled port visit.

While in the Seychelles, Sailors will have the opportunity to participate in community-relations events and experience the rich culture of the region.

'I'm more than thrilled to be spending Christmas in Seychelles,' said Operations Specialist 2nd Class H. Stewart. 'Sure I miss my loved ones, but I'll be spending this holiday season with my Navy family for a once in a lifetime opportunity.'

Gravely departed Norfolk Nov. 16 as part of the Harry S. Truman Carrier Strike Group to support maritime security operations and theater cooperation efforts in the U.S. 5th and 6th Fleet areas of responsibility.

The deployment is part of a regular rotation of forces to support maritime security operations, provide crisis response capability, and increase theater security cooperation and forward naval presence in the U.S. 5th and 6th Fleet areas of operation.
